Cycling at Leicester Grammar Junior School

LGJS Year 5 & 6 pupils are very fortunate that cycling is an integral part of the Trinity Term PE Curriculum at Leicester Grammar School Junior School. Lessons are overseen by Mr Rennie who is an accredited Bikeability cycle trainer.

Leicester Grammar Junior School is proud to own 18 ISLA bikes, a high quality range of ultra-light weight performance bikes, created to give young riders’ performance an edge. This means pupils don’t need to bring their own bikes to school.

Cycling is an important part of our Sports Day in the Junior School.  Year 5 and 6 pupils race as part of the sports afternoon and parents are invited to watch the competition.

In addition, all Year 5 and 6 children take part in the annual Triathlon during Sports’ Week, an infamous event on the term card. This event allows pupils to experience a sport most have never tried before. It also brings the whole school together as all the children and staff come out and support the triathletes on their route around the school grounds.
