Entrance
The entrance examination takes place at the start of term in January. For
boys and girls seeking to enter Year 6 [10+] and Year 7[11+], papers are taken in
Verbal Reasoning, English and Mathematics. Candidates may be called for interview.
Provision is made for a later examination, but only for those who had already
applied but were unable to sit in January due to illness. This is subject to
places still being available.
Examinations at 12+, 13+ and 14+ for entry into Years 8, 9 and 10 are also held at the
same time and papers are taken in the same three areas.
Entry to the Sixth Form is by interview, offers of a place being conditional upon the
G.C.S.E. grades gained. Two grade As and four grade Bs is the usual minimal requirement,
ideally with grade As in the subjects to be followed at A-level.
Applications from able under-age candidates are also considered and there is provision
for entry at other times of the year, particularly for those moving into the area,
provided there are places available in the relevant year group.
Candidates with special needs (such as vision impairment or dyslexia) should inform the
school when first making contact.
