A high-quality swimming programme for children of all ages and abilities, launching at Leicester Grammar School Trust, Great Glen, in Autumn 2026.
At SWIM@LGST, we are committed to helping every swimmer build confidence, develop essential life skills, and enjoy their time in the water, whether they are just starting out or refining advanced techniques.
Enrolment opens in early August 2026 Lessons begin Monday 28 September 2026.
SWIM@LGST is Leicester Grammar School’s new in-house swimming programme, building on the strong foundations established over the past 18 years.
We are proud to continue this legacy with a structured, supportive and high-quality offering for both existing and new families. Our approach combines expert teaching, a clear pathway for progression, and a safe, welcoming environment.
Our aim is simple: to help every child develop a lifelong confidence and enjoyment in swimming.

Our lessons follow a nationally recognised framework, ensuring a structured and progressive learning journey.

All sessions are led by Swim England Level 2 qualified teachers, supported by trained assistants.

Every session is supervised by fully qualified lifeguards holding the National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ).

Our Swimming Programme
We offer a structured learn-to-swim pathway for all stages:
Beginner
Building water confidence, basic movement and safety skills in a supportive environment.
Intermediate
Developing core strokes, technique and stamina.
Advanced
Refining technique, improving efficiency and building endurance.
SWIM@LGST will also offer:
- Rookie lifeguard courses
- Community swimming sessions
These opportunities will expand as the programme grows.
Supporting a smooth transition
We understand that continuity is important for families. We have worked closely with Penguins Swimming Academy to ensure:
- Each swimmer’s current stage is recognised
- Progression continues without disruption
- Children feel confident and supported throughout the transition
Our goal is to make this change as seamless as possible for every swimmer.

SWIM@LGST takes place in the Leicester Grammar School Trust pool, offering:
- A heated 25-metre indoor swimming pool
- Modern, refurbished changing facilities (Summer 2026)
- A clean, safe and welcoming environment

Will my child stay in the same swimming level? Yes. We are ensuring all swimmers’ current stages are recognised so they can continue progressing smoothly.
